Classic dungeon in WoW Forever

Dire Maul East

Dire Maul East is the Warpwood Quarter of the ruined highborne city in Feralas, open from level 55 to 60. In Classic it is the entry wing of Dire Maul, with satyrs and corrupted treants leading to Alzzin the Wildshaper. It starts at the same level as the new Blackmaw Hold, so level-55 groups on Kalimdor have two dungeons to choose from.

Before you go: getting there, keys and prep

The beta stopped at level 30, so nobody has run Dire Maul East in WoW Forever yet. Each line says where it comes from: the final beta client (1.60.1.70532), Blizzard, or how it worked in Classic.

How to get there

  • Classic fallback Dire Maul is the ruined city in central Feralas; East, West and North each have their own door around the courtyard. In Classic the Horde fly to Camp Mojache and the Alliance to Feathermoon Stronghold or Thalanaar. Warcraft Wiki

Prep checklist

  • Datamined The client gives Blackrock Spire, Scholomance, Stratholme and Dire Maul a level 50 entry requirement, with a second switch that can mark the dungeon "currently not available" from the server. Daybreak Forever datamine
  • Datamined Dire Maul has a new one-day lockout row in the client. How Blizzard uses it (a daily cap, a reward lock, or a reset timer) has not been announced. Daybreak Forever datamine
  • Datamined Dungeon enemies hit harder than in Classic: the client multiplies creature melee and spell damage by 1.2 in every dungeon, while their health stays the same. Expect more incoming damage per pull than old Classic numbers suggest. Daybreak Forever datamine
  • Classic fallback Collect the quests first: 12 from the Classic list, each with where it starts.

Did Forever change the loot here?

Datamined

Not the stats, as far as the client shows. We checked all 27 items on the Classic drop list for Dire Maul East against build 1.60.1.70707, and none of them has new stats. Forever's loot tables are server side, so whether they still drop here, and how often, is unknown until launch.

Classic fallback

Classic fallback, not seen in the beta. The beta stopped at level 30, so no Dire Maul East quest has shown up in the Forever data yet. This is the original Classic list, split by faction: givers, levels and chains may change in Forever, and the list is replaced by Forever data once players run the dungeon.

Ordered by pick-up level, chains in step order. "Starts" is the giver's Classic spawn point; quests that show "inside the dungeon" are handed out past the portal.

    Bring Lethtendris' Web to Latronicus Moonspear at the Feathermoon Stronghold in Feralas.

    Starts: Latronicus Moonspear, Feralas (30.4, 46.2). 7,550 XP in Classic.

  3. Pusillin and the Elder Azj'Tordin(both factions)Lv 54+

    Travel to Dire Maul and locate the Imp, Pusillin. Convince Pusillin to give you Azj'Tordin's Book of Incantations through any means necessary. Return to Azj'Tordin at the Lariss Pavilion in Feralas should you recover the Book of Incantations.

    Starts: Azj'Tordin, Feralas (76.9, 37.4). 7,750 XP in Classic.

  4. A Broken Trap(both factions)Lv 56+

    Starts: Broken Trap, inside the dungeon.

  5. The Instigator's Enchantment(both factions)Lv 58+

    Bring the following to Falrin Treeshaper inside Dire Maul: 1 Jeering Spectre's Essence, 4 Dark Runes and 8 Large Brilliant Shards.

    Starts: Falrin Treeshaper, inside the dungeon. Needs Falrin's Vendetta first. Step 6 of 6. 6,600 XP in Classic.

  6. The Left Piece of Lord Valthalak's Amulet(both factions)Lv 58+

    Use the Brazier of Beckoning to summon forth the spirit of Isalien and slay her. Return to Bodley inside Blackrock Mountain with the Left Piece of Lord Valthalak's Amulet and the Brazier of Beckoning.

    Starts from Brazier of Beckoning, so everyone loots their own. Needs Components of Importance first. Step 3 of 4. 8,300 XP in Classic.

  7. The Right Piece of Lord Valthalak's Amulet(both factions)Lv 58+

    Use the Brazier of Beckoning to summon forth the spirit of Isalien and slay her. Return to Bodley inside Blackrock Mountain with the recombined Lord Valthalak's Amulet and the Brazier of Beckoning.

  8. Anthion's Old Friend(both factions)Lv 58+

    Take the incomplete Banner of Provocation to Falrin Treeshaper at the library in Dire Maul.

    Starts from Incomplete Banner of Provocation, so everyone loots their own. Turn in to Falrin Treeshaper. Needs Anthion's Strange Request first. Step 4 of 4. 6,600 XP in Classic.

  9. Libram of Rapidity(both factions)Lv 58+

    Bring a Libram of Rapidity, 1 Pristine Black Diamond, 2 Large Brilliant Shards, and 2 Blood of Heroes to Lorekeeper Lydros in Dire Maul to receive an Arcanum of Rapidity.

    Starts: Lorekeeper Lydros, inside the dungeon.

  10. Arcane Refreshment(Mage only)(both factions)Lv 60+

    Travel to the Warpwood Quarter of Dire Maul and slay the water elemental, Hydrospawn. Return to Lorekeeper Lydros in the Athenaeum with the Hydrospawn Essence.
