Classic dungeon in WoW Forever

The Deadmines

The Deadmines covers levels 18–24 and, in Classic, is the Defias Brotherhood's hideout under Moonbrook in Westfall. It is the main Alliance dungeon of the late teens and overlaps both Wailing Caverns and the new Ruins of Lordaeron, so groups on either continent have a choice at this level. Classic runs end on a hidden pirate ship in a cove, a long but rewarding first full dungeon.

What Forever changed about the loot here

Unconfirmed

Forever does not publish its loot tables, and no datamine carries them, so this is not a drop list and it has no drop rates. It takes the Classic drop list for The Deadmines and shows which of those items the beta client gives different stats. 15 of 15 have changed in build 1.60.1.70707.

Quest prep by faction

Everything here is collected in Westfall and Stormwind. Two of the quests are not even inside the instance, so read the objectives before you walk past them on the way in.

  • Two objectives are outside the door: Foreman Thistlenettle for Oh Brother... and the undead for Collecting Memories are in the mine approach, not the instance.
  • Two quests cannot be shared. The Unsent Letter starts from the letter Edwin VanCleef drops, and Destruction in Deadmines from the explosives you carry in, so each player needs their own.
  • The Defias Brotherhood and Underground Assault both sit behind an earlier quest, so a share at the door fails for anyone who has not done the Westfall or Ironforge step.
  • Quest names, levels and NPCs come from the beta client. Where a giver stands is taken from the Classic version of the dungeon and is not confirmed for WoW Forever yet.

Where to pick them up

  1. Sentinel Hill, Westfall — Gryan Stoutmantle's chain ends in The Defias Brotherhood; Scout Riell at the tower adds Red Silk Bandanas.
  2. Stormwind, Dwarven District — Wilder Thistlenettle: Collecting Memories and Oh Brother...; Shoni the Shilent: Underground Assault.
  3. Alba Fairmoon takes Destruction in Deadmines, a quest that is new in Forever: plant explosives at the hidden forge.

Do this first

  • Work through Westfall first. The Defias Brotherhood is the last step of a long Sentinel Hill chain, and it carries the best rewards of the run.
  • Paladins can also start Verigan's Fist here: the chain from Ironforge needs lumber from the Goblin Woodcarver inside.

4 quests cannot be shared: an item starts them, so everyone in the group has to loot their own. 2 quests need an earlier quest, so a party share fails for anyone who has not done it.
