Classic dungeon in WoW Forever

Scarlet Monastery Library

The Library wing of Scarlet Monastery covers levels 34–40, three levels above the Graveyard. In Classic it winds through the Crusade's archives to Arcanist Doan, and groups usually switch to it once the Graveyard stops paying off. It overlaps the new Drowned City, so late-30s groups can mix the two.

Before you go: getting there, keys and prep

The beta stopped at level 30, so nobody has run Scarlet Monastery Library in WoW Forever yet. Each line says where it comes from: the final beta client (1.60.1.70532), Blizzard, or how it worked in Classic.

How to get there

  • Classic fallback The monastery stands in north-eastern Tirisfal Glades, one entrance building for all four wings. Horde characters are a short ride from the Undercity; Alliance characters have the longest trip of any dungeon in this band, through Horde land. Warcraft Wiki

Prep checklist

  • Classic fallback The Library needs no key, and it is where the Scarlet Key for the Armory and Cathedral is found: Doan's Strongbox, behind Arcanist Doan. Warcraft Wiki
  • Datamined Dungeon enemies hit harder than in Classic: the client multiplies creature melee and spell damage by 1.2 in every dungeon, while their health stays the same. Expect more incoming damage per pull than old Classic numbers suggest. Daybreak Forever datamine
  • Classic fallback Collect the quests first: 2 more from the Classic list on top of the 6 in the Forever data, each with where it starts.

Bosses (Classic reference)

Unconfirmed

Classic reference — may change in WoW Forever. These are the main bosses of the original Classic dungeon. WoW Forever has not published this dungeon's encounters, so treat the list as a starting point until it is confirmed in game.

  1. Houndmaster Loksey
  2. Arcanist Doan

What Forever changed about the loot here

Unconfirmed

Forever does not publish its loot tables, and no datamine carries them, so this is not a drop list and it has no drop rates. It takes the Classic drop list for Scarlet Monastery Library and shows which of those items the beta client gives different stats. 10 of 21 have changed in build 1.60.1.70707.

Quest prep by faction

Unconfirmed

The Library is the quest wing of the monastery: five book quests plus Hearts of Zeal, and the givers are spread from Ironforge and Dalaran to Thunder Bluff and Dustwallow Marsh. Pick up what your side offers before you travel, because the books only matter if the quest is already in your log.

  • Past Due is new in Forever and the best Alliance reward here: 6,750 experience, 45 silver, Kirin Tor reputation and a choice of two blues. The data places its giver in the City of Dalaran, at the Tempered Tomes (9.5, 63.1), and the book is the one Arcanist Doan never returned.
  • Rituals of Power is the last of three Mage steps for Tabetha in Dustwallow Marsh, after Get the Scoop.
  • Compendium of the Fallen is Horde-only and pays a choice of three blues from Sage Truthseeker in Thunder Bluff.
  • This is also where the Scarlet Key for the Armory and Cathedral is found, in Doan's Strongbox (Classic).

Alliance5 quests · Lv 33–40

Where to pick them up

  1. Ironforge, the Library (74.9, 12.2) — Librarian Mae Paledust: Mythology of the Titans.
  2. City of Dalaran, Tempered Tomes (9.5, 63.1): Past Due.

2 quests cannot be shared: an item starts them, so everyone in the group has to loot their own. 2 quests need an earlier quest, so a party share fails for anyone who has not done it.
