Ruins of Lordaeron

Ruins of Lordaeron is a new WoW Forever dungeon for levels 15–20, set in the ruined city of Lordaeron. According to Blizzard's preview, players help reclaim the city from lingering Scourge forces and look into a necromancer who seems to be preparing another attack. Its band fills the gap between the starting dungeons and The Deadmines, which suits characters leveling through Tirisfal Glades and Silverpine Forest.

Quest prep by faction

This is the one dungeon in the beta where the two factions get their own quest list: six each, four of them different. Turn-ins pay a lot here, so it is worth collecting all six before you go in.

  • Four quests start from something you loot inside: the crest for both factions, the Abominable Head (Horde, five steps on into the Undercity), and for the Alliance the Bloodied Insignia and the Blood-Stained Letter. None of them can be shared, so everyone loots their own.
  • Crest of Lordaeron starts inside and cannot be shared. The crest is a world object that spawns in different places, so every player has to find and loot their own; both factions have a quest for it, with different turn-ins.
  • Five of the ten quests here are item-started, which means no party share: the crest for both sides, the Abominable Head, the Bloodied Insignia and the Blood-Stained Letter the Alliance chain starts from.
  • Bring a tank a level or two above the band. Beta groups report dense elite packs with patrols, five and six-pull rooms, and no crowd control at this level.
  • Walking back out is long, so finish the inside quests in one visit.

  3. Stormwind, Cathedral Square — Orphan Matron Nightingale: Remember That I Love You, a two-step chain that starts with a letter found inside.

  • Plan the trip. Blizzard's preview says Alliance characters need a long detour to reach the gates, and the turn-ins are back in Stormwind.

  2. Undercity — Morbin Lightbane: Light's Justice. Oran Snakewrithe takes the Crest of Lordaeron turn-in.
  3. Theodore Griffs: The New Plague, for a sample from Witherfang.
  4. Unending Torment opens a five-step chain that continues in the Undercity.

  • Horde characters can walk here from Brill, so do the Tirisfal quests first and pick the dungeon up on the way.
