Beta

How do I get into the WoW Forever beta?

Opt in on the official WoW Forever page for a free chance at an invite, or pre-purchase the Skyborne Epic Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection for guaranteed access. The Skyborne Heroic Pack does not include the beta, and opt-in invites go out in waves with no guarantee.

What is the level cap in the WoW Forever beta?

The beta starts with a level 20 cap, which rises to level 30 after about two weeks and stays there. Level 31–60 content, including raids, is not in the beta.

When does the WoW Forever beta end?

Blizzard's pre-purchase post says the beta runs from September 17 through October 21, 2026 (PST), and PC Gamer also gives October 21. Icy Veins and Warcraft Tavern list October 22, so a late-October final day is possible, but Blizzard's own date is October 21.

Does beta progress carry over to launch?

No. Nothing from the beta carries over to live realms and there are no in-game rewards for testing, so every character starts fresh on November 4.

PC, Mac and controllers

What are the WoW Forever system requirements?

Icy Veins lists Windows 10 64-bit, a 6-core CPU, a DirectX 12 GPU with 4 GB (GeForce GTX 10 series or AMD RDNA 1), 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of SSD space as the minimum, and Windows 11, 16 GB RAM and an 8 GB GPU as recommended. That is higher than WoW Classic and close to retail WoW. Mac requirements were not listed in the sources we checked, so we cannot confirm Mac support yet.

Does WoW Forever support a controller?

Yes. Blizzard announced official gamepad support for WoW Forever. Warcraft Tavern tried it at the BlizzCon demo, where the in-game description marked the feature as alpha, so it may still change.

Are addons allowed in WoW Forever?

Blizzard has not published Forever-specific addon rules on its news site yet. Its UI Add-On Development Policy for World of Warcraft requires every addon to be free. Our addons page tracks which popular addons work in Forever and what the developers have said in interviews.

Realms, Hardcore and characters

Are there realms in WoW Forever?

No. WoW Forever is realmless: you pick a Normal, PvP or Roleplaying ruleset instead of a realm. You can group, run dungeons and raid with anyone on the same ruleset, but not across rulesets, and Horde and Alliance still cannot group together.

Does WoW Forever have Hardcore?

Yes, but only after launch; no date has been announced. Hardcore is a closed ruleset: if a Hardcore character dies it can transfer to another ruleset, and Hardcore progress and collections can count in other rulesets, but not the other way around.

Can I transfer characters to or within WoW Forever?

No character transfer service has been announced. The one exception is Hardcore: a Hardcore character that dies can move to another ruleset, including PvP.

When can I reserve my character name?

Early Name Reservation runs from October 27 to November 3, 2026 (PST) for anyone who bought an upgrade pack. You can create and customize up to three characters, and names are first come, first served.

What new races and class combinations are in WoW Forever?

The new Skyborne race can be Warriors, Hunters, Rogues and Druids on both factions, plus Shamans for the Horde and Mages for the Alliance. Six new combinations join the existing races: Gnome Priest, Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Orc Mage, Troll Warlock and Undead Paladin, and every race's racials have been reworked.

Which class should I play in WoW Forever?

It depends on the role and playstyle you enjoy. Blizzard says class updates add new abilities and talents, meaningful trade-offs and reasons to value what each class brings, so older rankings may not hold. Our class quiz suggests a class and spec from a few questions.

What is the Legacy system?

Legacy rewards leveling and alts: you earn Legacy Points from Legacy Challenges, such as leveling a specific class, and spend them in Legacy Trees that start with Professions, Adventure and Resourcefulness. Legacy Points are account-wide across rulesets except Hardcore.

When do raids open in WoW Forever?

New raids unlock on December 9, 2026, about five weeks after launch. Blizzard names Hyjal Summit (20 players) and the Barrow Deeps (10 players), and plans more raids and a revamped iconic raid later.
