WoW Forever Fishing Guide: 1 to 300
Fishing in Forever still levels the old way, one cast at a time with a pole and a lure. What changed is around it: three camp features that buff your whole group and unlock new uncommon and rare fish, a Legacy perk for extra catches, and a Stranglethorn contest that no longer has a single winner. This page walks the skill brackets first, then everything that is new, with every line marked by how well it is backed.

Where to fish, bracket by bracket
Fish at a zone until the catches stop raising your skill, then move on. Lures matter more than the zone: put one on whenever fish start slipping the hook.

Fish Bowl, Fishing Rack and Fishing Hut
These are Fishing's share of the new camping system. Each one is placed next to a campfire, and the buff goes to everyone sitting nearby, so an angler in a leveling group is worth more than the fish they bring.

- Datamined Fishing's camping skill is called Bait and Tackle. It is what lets an angler add features to a wilderness camp. Daybreak Forever datamine
- Datamined The Fish Bowl comes at 20 skill and gives you and anyone sitting nearby 8% more stats. It does not stack with Blessing of Kings, and it needs a campfire nearby. Daybreak Forever datamine

Uncommon and rare fish

Which fish those are, and what they cook into, is the biggest gap in Forever fishing right now. We will add them once launch players post their catches.

Is there a fishing ring?
- Datamined No ring in the final beta item data has a Fishing bonus, and none of the new fishing items is a ring. The gear that raises Fishing is a head, feet, glove enchant, poles, lures and food. Daybreak Forever datamine

Legacy perks for anglers
Legacy perks are bought per character with account-wide Legacy Points. Effects are the beta client's tooltip text; the tree page lists every source.

What Forever changes

Our advice for the first contests: arrive with a stack of your best lure and full bags. With a whole region on one ruleset, the Booty Bay pools will be crowded.
New fishing quests in the beta client
Quest titles and objectives the client showed during the beta. Levels and rewards for most of them are not in our quest data yet.

Pairing Fishing with Cooking and camp life
- Datamined Cooking is the natural partner, and the camp recipes eat fish too: the Fish Bowl takes a Raw Brilliant Smallfish, the Rack two Raw Mithril Head Trout and the Hut one Seasonal Fish Steaks. Daybreak Forever datamine
- Datamined Cooking gets two campfire tiers of its own, a Journeyman Campfire at 90 skill and an Expert Campfire at 200, and every Rack or Hut needs a campfire nearby. Daybreak Forever datamine
- Reported Floating wreckage also yields cloth and leather, so Tailoring and Leatherworking get a side supply from an angler. Warcraft Tavern
In practice: level Cooking alongside Fishing, cook what you catch for the well-fed buff, and carry a Fish Bowl for every camp you sit at. The Cozy Sleeping Bag rewards the same habit of resting at camp.
What nobody knows yet
- Which uncommon and rare fish the Rack and the Hut add, and what they are for.
- Where the Fishing Rack and Fishing Hut blueprints drop.
- Lava fishing. We found no lava-capable rod and no lava fishing source in the files or from testers.
- Fishing dailies in a Blackmaw village. We found no source for them, in the files or from testers.
- A tackle box. The only tackle box we found is a feature of the Forever Angler addon, not an item in the game.
- The Extravaganza schedule in Forever, now that there are no realms and every ruleset spans a region.
- Where the Wide-Brimmed Fishing Hat, Shiny Silver Coin and "Secret" Bait come from.

WoW Forever fishing FAQ
Is there a fishing ring in WoW Forever?
Not in the final beta files. No ring carries a Fishing bonus. The rumoured Lefay's Ring of Precise Spell Power is not in the datamine either. The real fishing upgrades are the Wide-Brimmed Fishing Hat, the Lucky Fishing Hat, Nat Pagle's boots, better poles and lures.
Where do I learn Fishing in WoW Forever?
From the fishing trainer in your starting zone. Each one stands next to water. Skyborne learn from Baelann Swiftcurrent in Valanaar or Fenn Fairweather in Shen'dar Village. Journeyman is trained at 50 skill and level 10, Expert comes from a book in Booty Bay at 125.
What does the Fish Bowl do?
It is the first Fishing camp feature, crafted at 20 skill from a Raw Brilliant Smallfish and an Empty Vial. Everyone sitting nearby gets 8% more stats. It needs a campfire and does not stack with Blessing of Kings.
How does the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza work in Forever?
Testers report the first 50 players to turn in their fish all win. Each winner gets the Arcanite Fishing Pole, an Extravaganza Coin to trade with Jang for a prize, and the Master Angler title for that week.
