Classic dungeon in WoW Forever

Lower Blackrock Spire

Lower Blackrock Spire covers levels 57–60 and, in Classic, is the orc- and ogre-held lower half of Blackrock Spire, above Blackrock Depths in the same mountain. It is a long, pack-heavy dungeon that suits groups finishing their last levels before 60. Because both dungeons share an entrance area, groups often move straight from one to the other.

Before you go: getting there, keys and prep

The beta stopped at level 30, so nobody has run Lower Blackrock Spire in WoW Forever yet. Each line says where it comes from: the final beta client (1.60.1.70532), Blizzard, or how it worked in Classic.

How to get there

  • Classic fallback Blackrock Mountain sits between Searing Gorge and the Burning Steppes; Blackrock Depths and Blackrock Spire share its central chamber. In Classic the Alliance fly to Morgan's Vigil and the Horde to Flame Crest, both in the Burning Steppes. Warcraft Wiki

Prep checklist

  • Datamined The client gives Blackrock Spire, Scholomance, Stratholme and Dire Maul a level 50 entry requirement, with a second switch that can mark the dungeon "currently not available" from the server. Daybreak Forever datamine
  • Classic fallback In Classic Upper Blackrock Spire needs the Seal of Ascension, built in a quest chain from Vaelan inside Lower Blackrock Spire. The Forever chart has no Upper Spire band, although the client's Spelunker achievement still lists it. Warcraft Wiki
  • Datamined Blackrock Spire has a new one-day lockout row in the client. How Blizzard uses it (a daily cap, a reward lock, or a reset timer) has not been announced. Daybreak Forever datamine
  • Datamined Dungeon enemies hit harder than in Classic: the client multiplies creature melee and spell damage by 1.2 in every dungeon, while their health stays the same. Expect more incoming damage per pull than old Classic numbers suggest. Daybreak Forever datamine
  • Classic fallback Collect the quests first: 26 from the Classic list, each with where it starts.

Did Forever change the loot here?

Datamined

Not the stats, as far as the client shows. We checked all 56 items on the Classic drop list for Lower Blackrock Spire against build 1.60.1.70707, and none of them has new stats. Forever's loot tables are server side, so whether they still drop here, and how often, is unknown until launch.

Classic fallback

Classic fallback, not seen in the beta. The beta stopped at level 30, so no Lower Blackrock Spire quest has shown up in the Forever data yet. This is the original Classic list, split by faction: givers, levels and chains may change in Forever, and the list is replaced by Forever data once players run the dungeon.

Ordered by pick-up level, chains in step order. "Starts" is the giver's Classic spawn point; quests that show "inside the dungeon" are handed out past the portal.

  2. Maxwell's MissionLv 55+

    Travel to Blackrock Spire and destroy War Master Voone, Highlord Omokk, and Overlord Wyrmthalak. Return to Marshal Maxwell when the job is done.

    Starts: Marshal Maxwell, Burning Steppes (84.7, 69.0). Needs Message to Maxwell first. Step 3 of 3. 8,550 XP in Classic.

  3. The Demon Forge(both factions)Lv 55+

    Travel to Blackrock Spire and find Goraluk Anvilcrack. Slay him and then use the Blood Stained Pike upon his corpse. After his soul has been siphoned, the pike will be Soul Stained. You must also find the Unforged Rune Covered Breastplate. Return both the Soul Stained Pike and the Unforged Rune Covered Breastplate to Lorax in Winterspring.

    Starts from Blood Stained Pike, so everyone loots their own. Needs Lorax's Tale first. Step 2 of 2. 8,300 XP in Classic.

  4. Bijou's BelongingsLv 55+

    Find Bijou's Belongings and return them to her. Good luck!

    Starts: Bijou, inside the dungeon. 6,400 XP in Classic.

  5. En-Ay-Es-Tee-Why(both factions)Lv 55+

    Travel to Blackrock Spire and collect 15 Spire Spider Eggs for Kibler. By the sound of it, these eggs could be found near spiders.

    Starts: Kibler, Burning Steppes (65.9, 21.9). 6,400 XP in Classic.

  6. Kibler's Exotic Pets(both factions)Lv 55+

    Travel to Blackrock Spire and find Bloodaxe Worg Pups. Use the cage to carry the ferocious little beasts. Bring back a Caged Worg Pup to Kibler.

    Starts from Empty Worg Pup Cage, so everyone loots their own. 6,400 XP in Classic.

  7. Put Her DownLv 55+

    Travel to Blackrock Spire and destroy the source of the worg menace. As you left Helendis, he shouted a name: Halycon. It is what the orcs refer to in regards to the worg.

    Starts: Helendis Riverhorn, Burning Steppes (85.8, 68.9). 6,400 XP in Classic.

  8. Mother's Milk(both factions)Lv 55+

    In the heart of Blackrock Spire you will find Mother Smolderweb. Engage her and get her to poison you. Chances are good that you will have to kill her as well. Return to Ragged John when you are poisoned so that he can 'milk' you.

    Starts: Ragged John, Burning Steppes (65.0, 23.8). 9,950 XP in Classic.

    Read Warosh's Scroll. Bring Warosh's Mojo to Warosh.

    Find the three gemstones of command: The Gemstone of Smolderthorn, Gemstone of Spirestone, and Gemstone of Bloodaxe. Return them, along with the Unadorned Seal of Ascension, to Vaelan. The Generals, as told to you by Vaelan, are: War Master Voone of the Smolderthorn; Highlord Omokk of the Spirestone; and Overlord Wyrmthalak of the Bloodaxe.

  17. The Matron Protectorate(both factions)Lv 57+

    Travel to Winterspring and find Haleh. Give her Awbee's scale.

    Starts from Awbee's Scale, so everyone loots their own. Turn in to Haleh. 6,600 XP in Classic.

  18. The Left Piece of Lord Valthalak's Amulet(both factions)Lv 58+

    Use the Brazier of Beckoning to summon forth the spirit of Mor Grayhoof and slay him. Return to Bodley inside Blackrock Mountain with the Left Piece of Lord Valthalak's Amulet and the Brazier of Beckoning.

    Starts from Brazier of Beckoning, so everyone loots their own. Needs Components of Importance first. Step 3 of 4. 8,300 XP in Classic.

  19. The Right Piece of Lord Valthalak's Amulet(both factions)Lv 58+

    Use the Brazier of Beckoning to summon forth the spirit of Mor Grayhoof and slay him. Return to Bodley inside Blackrock Mountain with the recombined Lord Valthalak's Amulet and the Brazier of Beckoning.

  4. The Demon Forge(both factions)Lv 55+

    Travel to Blackrock Spire and find Goraluk Anvilcrack. Slay him and then use the Blood Stained Pike upon his corpse. After his soul has been siphoned, the pike will be Soul Stained. You must also find the Unforged Rune Covered Breastplate. Return both the Soul Stained Pike and the Unforged Rune Covered Breastplate to Lorax in Winterspring.
