How the ranking works
Every vote is a letter from S to D, scored 5 to 1. To keep a handful of enthusiastic votes from putting a spec at the top, each spec's average is shrunk toward the average of all votes in that mode, as if it had 5 extra votes at that overall average. A spec needs 5 votes to be placed; this page is hidden from search engines until the season has 20 votes. Ratings from banned accounts are removed. The list reflects what voters here think of the beta, not measured damage, healing or win rates.
Tier list FAQ
How is the WoW Forever tier list made?
Signed-in visitors rate each spec from S to D, separately for PvE and PvP. Every account gets one rating per spec and mode, and can change or remove it at any time. It is ranked by visitor votes during the beta; it is not an official or editorial ranking, and nobody on the site team picks the order.
Why is a spec in the “Not enough votes” group?
A spec is only placed in a tier after it has at least 5 votes in that mode. With fewer votes, one or two people could decide where it lands.
How are the votes turned into tiers?
Each letter counts as a score: S = 5, A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1. A spec's score is its average rating pulled toward the average of all votes in that mode, as if it had 5 extra votes at that overall average. With few votes a spec stays near the middle; with many votes its own average takes over. The adjusted score is rounded to the nearest tier (4.5 and up is S, 3.5 to 4.49 is A, and so on).
Who can vote, and how is vote stuffing prevented?
Only signed-in accounts can vote, and an account needs a verified email address (or a linked Battle.net account) or must be at least 24 hours old. Voting is rate limited, banned accounts' ratings are removed, and there are no anonymous or seeded votes.
Will the tier list reset at launch?
Yes. Votes are grouped by season. The current season is the WoW Forever beta; when WoW Forever launches a new season starts empty, because beta balance and launch balance can differ.
