Theorycrafted before the WoW Forever beta (September 17, 2026). The leveling plan follows the proven Classic leveling builds, the talents use the pre-release WoW Forever trees on this site, and ability levels quoted from Classic may differ in Forever. Expect updates once the beta is testable.

Overview

Levels 1–40 · Restoration Druid, solo questing and grinding.

Restoration is the slowest druid spec to level solo, but it is the one that heals dungeons from day one and almost never dies. This build keeps it playable alone: the first five points go into Balance for a cheap, fast Wrath, and everything after that is Restoration talents that help both solo play and healing. It follows the classic Restoration leveling advice (a little Balance for damage early, then Reflection for mana, Nature’s Swiftness and the deeper healing talents), adapted to WoW Forever. Naturalist now adds 5% to all your damage as well as a faster Healing Touch, Reflection keeps 51% of your mana regeneration while casting, Nature’s Focus protects Wrath as well as heals from pushback, and Swiftmend is an instant heal on a target with Rejuvenation or Regrowth. Insect Swarm moved to the Balance tree in Forever, so this build does not take it. The guide ends at 40 with Living Spirit and Gift of Nature complete; Wild Growth is the next pick.

Why this build

  • Almost impossible to kill solo with Rejuvenation, Swiftmend, Nature’s Swiftness and Bear Form.
  • Good dungeon healer at every level, so group invites come quickly.
  • Mana efficient: Reflection and Living Spirit keep you casting longer, and Improved Wrath halves Wrath’s cost.

Weak spots

  • Low solo damage. Kills take longer than Feral or Balance; pick quests with few mobs and group for elites.
  • Levels 1–20 are slow without Cat Form or strong nukes. Bear Form from 10 helps.
  • Gear conflict. Healing gear does little for Wrath or Bear Form, so a solo session feels weaker than a healing one.

Talent order by level

One point per level from level 10 to 40. The talent tree above shows the finished level 40 build; use the level slider to see it at any level.

  • Levels 10–14 · Improved Wrath (Balance) 5/5 — 0.5 sec faster Wrath at half the mana cost at 5/5: your solo damage for the whole guide.
  • Levels 15–19 · Nature’s Focus 5/5 — 70% chance to avoid pushback on Arcane and Nature spells at 5/5, which covers Wrath, Moonfire and all your heals.
  • Levels 20–24 · Naturalist 5/5 — 0.5 sec faster Healing Touch and +5% damage on everything you do at 5/5, including Bear and Cat Form; required for Nature’s Swiftness.
  • Levels 25–27 · Reflection 3/3 — 51% of your mana regeneration continues while casting at 3/3: fewer drinking breaks solo and in dungeons.
  • Levels 28–29 · Gift of Nature 2/5 — +10% healing on all your heals at 5/5.
  • Level 30 · Swiftmend 1/1 — Instant heal on a target with your Rejuvenation or Regrowth, worth the whole remaining heal over time.
  • Levels 31–33 · Improved Rejuvenation 3/3 — +15% Rejuvenation healing at 3/3, your most-used heal.
  • Level 34 · Gift of Nature 3/5 — finish the talent.
  • Level 35 · Nature’s Swiftness 1/1 — Makes your next Nature spell instant: an instant Healing Touch or Entangling Roots in an emergency.
  • Levels 36–38 · Living Spirit 3/3 — +15% Spirit at 3/3 for more mana regeneration, which Reflection keeps going while casting.
  • Levels 39–40 · Gift of Nature 5/5 — finish the talent.

Key levels

  • Level 1 · Wrath and Healing Touch. Mark of the Wild from the start, Rejuvenation at 4, Moonfire at 4 and Thorns at 6.
  • Level 10 · Bear Form quest. Improved Wrath starts: cheaper, faster Wrath for solo kills.
  • Level 12 · Regrowth is trained: your big heal for dungeons and emergencies.
  • Level 15 · Nature’s Focus: heals and Wrath are no longer pushed back when a mob reaches you.
  • Level 20 · Naturalist: +5% damage on everything and a faster Healing Touch. Cat Form and Rebirth.
  • Level 25 · Reflection: 51% of your mana regeneration continues while casting at 3/3.
  • Level 30 · Swiftmend: an instant heal on a Rejuvenation or Regrowth target. Travel Form and Tranquility.
  • Level 35 · Nature’s Swiftness: an instant Healing Touch or Entangling Roots when it matters most.
  • Level 40 · Living Spirit and Gift of Nature complete. Innervate and Dire Bear Form.

How to pull and kill

  1. Buff Mark of the Wild and Thorns. Open with Wrath from range, then Moonfire.
  2. Wrath until the mob reaches you. Nature’s Focus keeps your casts going while it hits you.
  3. For tough mobs, Entangling Roots and back off, or shift to Bear Form and fight in melee; Naturalist’s 5% damage works in forms too.
  4. Keep Rejuvenation on yourself during the fight and Swiftmend when health drops fast.
  5. Save Nature’s Swiftness for an instant Healing Touch or an instant Entangling Roots to escape.
  6. Between fights, sit and drink; Reflection means you regenerate even while topping yourself up.

Leveling tips

  • Group whenever you can. A Restoration druid gets dungeon invites quickly; Ragefire Chasm, The Deadmines, Wailing Caverns and Shadowfang Keep all need healers.
  • Healing gear for groups, Intellect and Stamina for solo play; do not carry two full sets while leveling.
  • Herbalism and Alchemy keep you in mana potions for long dungeon runs.
  • Quest in beast-heavy zones where Entangling Roots and Hibernate work, and skip elite quests unless grouped.
  • Bear Form before 20 is your best damage option on anything that fights back; shift out to heal after.
  • Quest zones by level: Teldrassil or Mulgore to 10, Darkshore or the Barrens to 20, Ashenvale, Hillsbrad and the Barrens to 30, Arathi, Desolace and Stranglethorn to 40.

After level 40

From 41, take Wild Growth for group healing, then Improved Regrowth and Tranquil Spirit. For faster solo leveling in the 40s, a respec to the Balance or Feral guide is the alternative.
