Overview
Level 60 · Restoration Shaman in battlegrounds and world PvP.
Restoration in PvP heals through pressure with totem control. Healing Focus protects casts from interruption by damage, Riptide is an instant heal while moving, and Nature’s Swiftness turns Healing Wave into an instant emergency heal. Water Shield returns mana when you are hit, which suits a healer who is being attacked. From Enhancement, Guardian Totems shortens Grounding Totem, Earth’s Grasp strengthens Earthbind Totem, and Anticipation adds dodge against melee.
Your role in a fight
In battlegrounds you heal your group while controlling the fight with totems: Tremor Totem against fear, Grounding Totem against Polymorph and Earthbind Totem against melee. In world PvP you are hard to kill alone but have limited damage, so fight next to a partner.
Darkspear Islands
Darkspear Islands is a 15 vs 15 battleground, per Blizzard, with control points and flag captures plus defense. A Restoration Shaman is most valuable guarding a point where totems can cover the defenders. Nothing more about the map is confirmed yet.
Honor and ranks: WoW Forever is reported to bring a 14-rank Honor track, earned from battlegrounds and PvP content. Thresholds, weekly caps and decay are not announced; see the PvP and honor hub for what is confirmed.
Strengths
- Counters for crowd control. Tremor Totem and Grounding Totem undo the fears and Polymorphs other healers suffer from.
- Mana under attack. Water Shield returns mana every time you are hit.
- Heals that finish. Healing Focus and Nature’s Swiftness get heals through melee pressure.
- Healing on the move. Riptide covers a teammate while you reposition behind a pillar.
Weak points
- Interrupts: Kick and Counterspell lock your Nature heals.
- Totem destruction: enemies can kill your totems quickly.
- Low damage: you cannot finish fights alone.
- Focus: a coordinated team kills a Shaman healer faster than a Priest with shields.
