Every way to earn Legacy Points in WoW Forever, according to the beta client

The beta 1.60.1 client contains 65 Legacy challenges worth one point each. 27 come from leveling each class to 25, 45 and 60, 18 from crafting professions, and the rest from dungeons, raids, PvP and exploration. A character can spend up to 16 points at launch.

Blizzard said at BlizzCon that the Legacy System would reward you for playing alts and trying different parts of the game, with up to 65 points available at launch. The beta client now shows exactly where those points come from. Wowhead published the list, and the same data is in the public datamine of beta build 1.60.1, which we used to count everything below. You can also browse them on our Legacy challenges page.

Every challenge is worth one Legacy Point, and there are 65 unique challenges. Points are shared across your account, but each character can only spend 16 of them in the Professions, Adventure and Resourcefulness trees.

Leveling classes: 27 points

This is the biggest chunk. Each of the nine classes has three milestones, reached for the first time on that class:

  • Novice: reach level 25
  • Experienced: reach level 45
  • Master: reach level 60

Nine classes times three steps is 27 points. You do not need to take every class to 60 to get value either: a level 25 alt of each class already adds up to 9 points.

Crafting professions: 18 points

Six crafting professions give a point at 150 (Journeyman), 225 (Expert) and 300 (Artisan) skill: Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking and Tailoring. Gathering professions and secondary skills like Cooking are not on the list in this build.

Dungeons and raids: 7 points

  • Novice Spelunker: complete Ruins of Lordaeron and Excavation: Wetlands.
  • Experienced Spelunker: complete City of Dalaran, Drowned City and Krol’dok Stronghold.
  • Master Spelunker: complete Alcaz Island, Timbermaw Hold and Shaper’s Terrace.
  • Conqueror of the Lair: complete Onyxia’s Lair.
  • Conqueror of the Wilds: complete the Hyjal Summit raid.
  • Conqueror of the Deeps: complete the Barrow Deeps raid.
  • Lord Valthalak Laid to Rest: finish the questline from An Earnest Proposition to Saving the Best for Last.

The three Spelunker challenges all point at the new Forever dungeons, so they double as a checklist for the new content.

PvP: 12 points

  • Honor ranks: Sergeant (rank 3), Knight-Lieutenant or Blood Guard (7), Commander or Champion (10), Field Marshal or Warlord (13) and Grand Marshal or High Warlord (14).
  • Battleground reputation: exalted with the Alterac Valley, Arathi Basin and Warsong Gulch factions, plus the new Darkspear Islands battleground faction (more in our PvP overview).
  • Field of Honor Journey: complete weeks 4, 7 and 10.

Exploration: 1 point

What it means for players

The 16-point cap per character is low compared with the 65 on offer, so the extra points mostly feed the cosmetic Legacy Reward Track. The fastest early points are cheap ones: a few alts to 25, a crafting profession to 150 and the first Spelunker dungeons. PvP players can earn a fair share without ever leveling an alt.

This is beta data, so challenges may still change before launch on November 4. To plan how a character spends its 16 points, try our Legacy planner, and use our leveling guides to speed up those alts.
