Real storms are coming to the WoW Forever beta, and Elwynn Forest is the first to get soaked

The WoW Forever beta looks the part, but something has been missing since day one. Blizzard just posted the fix, in the form of a short video and three words: coming soon to the Beta.

What is coming

Community manager Kaivax posted a teaser for increased weather effects in WoW Forever beta zones. PC Gamer describes the video as an almost ASMR-like montage of a rainstorm in Elwynn Forest, with the screen so thick with rain and fog that the trees around Goldshire are hard to make out. It is the kind of storm that makes you want to step inside the inn.

Blizzard says only that certain zones get the stronger weather. With the beta capped at level 20, most of the world is not testable yet, so the snowstorms of Dun Morogh and the sandstorms of Tanaris may simply be waiting their turn. Patch notes should tell us more when the next full update lands.

Why players asked for it

It is not that WoW Forever has no weather. It is that the weather is polite. A Reddit post that spread widely described what players actually miss: running through Dun Morogh in a snowstorm so heavy it cut your view distance, hearing the music, picking up a quest from the dwarf by the fire.

The same theme runs through the forum thread, which passed 140 replies within hours:

• one tester says they have not seen a single drop of rain in the beta and misses the gloom;
• others name the Wetlands downpours and the Dun Morogh blizzards as the benchmark;
• the wishlist goes further: morning fog, wind effects, thunderstorms as distinct from light rain, dust storms, leaves torn off trees, and footsteps that splash in puddles and crunch in snow.

There is one dissenting note worth repeating for anyone with an older machine or motion sensitivity: at least one player asked for a way to turn the weather off, saying heavy rain on top of the game’s fog already makes it hard to see. Blizzard has not said whether there will be a setting.

It fits the pitch

Blizzard keeps saying that in Forever the world is the main character, and that the journey matters more than the destination. Weather is the cheapest possible proof of that. You cannot fly over the world, you walk through it, and a storm changes how that walk feels.

It also says something about the pace of this beta. Testers asked for stronger weather in the first week, and it is arriving within the next patch. As PC Gamer notes, that turnaround suggests more feedback-driven changes rather than only balance tweaks and bug fixes. The auto-shot fix announced a few hours earlier points the same way.

What to watch

• The next full beta build, where the weather should appear along with patch notes.
• Whether the effect reaches Dun Morogh and Tirisfal, the two zones testers name most.
