WoW Forever camping: every profession builds a camp feature, and the buffs stand in for raid buffs

Camping turns a campfire into a small base: each profession can build three camp features, from a Mana Well to a Master Forge. Their buffs are exclusive with raid buffs like Blessing of Kings and Mark of the Wild, so a solo player can finally get them. Every camp feature shares one 60-minute cooldown.

Campfires in the original game cooked your meat and did nothing else. In World of Warcraft: Forever they are the centre of a camping system: you light a fire, build things around it, and everyone sitting nearby gets buffs that until now only a full group could hand out.

Blizzard first described camping in an interview we covered in our deep dive on camping, Legacy Points and rulesets. Now the beta is here: player Rinski showed the system in a short video, and the beta client’s own data (build 1.60.1.69913) lists every recipe, so the numbers below come straight from the game files.

The campfire decides how big your camp is

The fire itself is a Cooking recipe, and it sets how many camp features you can place around it:

Campfire Cooking skill Material Camp features
Basic Campfire 1 Simple Wood 3
Journeyman Campfire 90 Star Wood 5
Expert Campfire 200 Thick Logs 10

Players who sit or craft near the fire for one minute pick up the benefits of everything built around it. Every camp feature shares a single 60-minute cooldown, so a camp is something you set up before a long session, not between two pulls.

Every profession builds three camp features

Each profession gets one recipe at skill 20, one at 140 and one at 300. The higher tiers are placed over the lower one and keep its buff while adding a working station.

Profession Skill 20 Skill 140 Skill 300
Alchemy Mana Well Fermenter Alchemy Laboratory
Blacksmithing Sharpening Wheel Anvil Master Forge
Enchanting Enchanted Lute Arcane Salvager Arcane Forge
Engineering Reagent Bot Repair Bot Anarchist’s Workbench
First Aid First Aid Kit Toxin Study Plague Doctor’s Laboratory
Fishing Fish Bowl Fishing Rack Fishing Hut
Herbalism Incense Candle Greenhouse Seed Hybridizer
Leatherworking Camp Tent Tanning Rack Sewing Machine
Mining Lodestone Rock Garden Molten Foundry
Skinning Camp Chair Field Guide Trapper’s Workbench
Tailoring Faction Banner Spinning Wheel Loom
Cooking Basic Campfire Cookie’s Feast Iron Oven

The buffs replace raid buffs

This is the part that matters for anyone playing alone or in a duo. Each first-tier camp feature gives a buff that the client marks as exclusive with a class buff, which means it does not stack with it, but it does the same job when no Druid, Paladin or Priest is around:

Camp feature Buff Exclusive with
Fish Bowl 8% increased stats Blessing of Kings
Enchanted Lute 308 armor, 13 all stats, 22 all resistances Mark of the Wild
First Aid Kit 56 Stamina Power Word: Fortitude
Incense Candle 25 Intellect Arcane Intellect
Mana Well 29 mana every 5 seconds Blessing of Wisdom
Lodestone 90 melee attack power Blessing of Might
Sharpening Wheel 34 Strength Strength of Earth Totem
Camp Chair 2% critical strike chance Moonkin Aura
Faction Banner 32 Spirit Divine Spirit

The Camp Tent does something different: it pushes your Rested experience up to 5% of a level, for you and everyone sitting with you.

The higher tiers are working stations

The skill 140 and 300 recipes keep the buff and add something useful in the field:

  • Crafting anywhere. Anvil, Master Forge, Loom, Sewing Machine, Alchemy Laboratory, Arcane Forge, Molten Foundry, Anarchist’s Workbench and the Iron Oven cover the recipes that normally send you back to a city.
  • Repairs and reagents. The Engineering Reagent Bot sells reagents, and the Repair Bot also repairs gear, for everyone nearby.
  • Gathering. The Greenhouse grows herbs from planted seeds, the Seed Hybridizer combines seeds into rarer ones, and the Rock Garden spawns a common mining node over time.
  • Fishing. The Fishing Rack gives uncommon fish and fishing lures for 60 minutes; the Fishing Hut does the same for rare fish.
  • Odds and ends. The Arcane Salvager makes disenchanting more efficient, the Field Guide can be read for Track Beasts, the Trapper’s Workbench holds a trap, and Cookie’s Feast lays out Stamina food.

What this means for players

A camp is a small group’s worth of buffs for a player who has none. If you level solo, a Fish Bowl and an Enchanted Lute at the fire are close to having a Paladin and a Druid in the party. If you play in a duo, two professions cover two more slots.

It also changes what professions are worth. Gathering professions are no longer only a source of materials: Herbalism and Mining bring their own camp features, and Fishing and First Aid, which most players ignore, both give strong camp buffs.

This is beta data, so the numbers and the recipes can still change before launch. Our professions hub has the recipe lists per profession, and the beta changes list tracks what else is new.
