WoW Forever datamine: 42 new mounts, devilsaurs and Galestriders, plus new class sets with rotation bonuses

The current beta build (1.60.1.69913) has been in testers’ hands since September 18, and its files hold a lot that nobody can reach at level 20 yet. We went through the public Forever datamine for the two things players ask about most: mounts and gear sets.

Datamined content can change or be cut before launch. Nothing below is confirmed by Blizzard.

Mounts: 42 new, 31 new models

The files list 141 mounts. 42 are new, and 38 of those do not appear in any other version of WoW. 31 use models that Classic never had, including:

• Devilsaurs in black, blue, green, purple and white, the Un’Goro terror as a rideable mount;
• Druid moose in black, gray, green and white;
• Warden sabers in black, brown, gray and white;
• Galestriders: Empyrean, Regal, Stormy and Umber, each with a swift version. The name and colours suggest a link to the Skyborne and their wind theme;
• Prideclaws: one finished (Cerulean) and three still marked as placeholders;
• a Spectral Bear, a Pack Kodo, and Veteran Adventurer’s Loyal Companion, a rideable bear whose name hints at a reward for long-time players;
• new versions of the class mounts, Summon Warhorse and Summon Forsaken Charger.

There are also new colours of old models: skeletal horses in dark, green and purple, a Lavender Kodo, a Caravan Kodo, and a Swift Hyjal Stag.

What the files do not say yet is how you get them. The source field is empty for most new mounts. Vendors, reputations, Legacy rewards and drops are all possible. Our mount guide will add sources as soon as they are found.

Sets: new class sets that change your rotation

The files contain 51 item sets. 32 are unique to Forever. The most interesting group is a new line of six-piece class sets at the level 60 item level, one or more per spec. Their bonuses go beyond stats:

• Manaflare Regalia (Mage): Counterspell cooldown reduced; 5 pieces make Frostfire Bolt more likely to trigger Missile Barrage and Fingers of Frost, with extra crit during Combustion;
• Battlegear of Glory (Warrior): shorter Intimidating Shout and Recklessness cooldowns;
• Justice Battlegear (Paladin): shorter Hammer of Justice, and Judgement cooldown reduced by 0.5 sec;
• the rest of the line follows the same pattern: Grovekeeper (four leather versions), The Spiritcaller (three mail versions), Conviction (two cloth versions), Wildstalker (mail), Grimstitch (leather) and Demonheart (cloth).

In these sets the head and chest pieces are not filled in yet, which suggests the sets are still being built.

Classic dungeon sets are being reworked too. 52 existing sets have changed bonuses. Battlegear of Heroism and Valor, for example, now get resistances, regeneration and a chance to break Disarm effects.

Small sets from leveling

Forever also adds sets you can finish while leveling:

• Blessing of Kalimdor (neck, ring and cloak for levels 16–20): 5% movement speed in the Barrens and Stonetalon Mountains;
• Partners in Crime (two rings): +20 Strength and a chance to become Angry for more Strength;
• Stormcloth Regalia (cloth, levels 39–45) and Blessed Plate, an eight-piece plate set for levels 47–56 with Strength, spell power and a Holy damage bonus.
