WoW Forever set bonuses datamined: old dungeon sets now pay out at every piece

Gear sets in World of Warcraft: Forever are shaping up to be much more than a stat stick. Wowhead dug the new and updated set bonuses out of the beta client, and PC Gamer highlighted how even low-level armor now has something fun attached. We checked the list against the datamine of beta build 1.60.1, and here is what stands out.

A bonus at almost every piece

The biggest structural change hits 26 of the old sets. In Classic, a set like Battlegear of Heroism gave you a bonus at 2, 4, 6 and 8 pieces. In the Forever client the same set now has thresholds at 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 pieces, so every extra piece you pick up does something. Most of those bonuses are new; a few original effects were kept and moved to a different step.

That makes partial sets far more attractive while leveling and in early endgame, where you rarely wear a full eight-piece set anyway.

Low-level sets with real procs

Some of the most interesting changes are on gear you will see long before level 60:

• Defias Leather (Deadmines): +15 Attack Power against Humanoids at 3 pieces, and at 4 pieces a 5% chance when striking from behind to make the target bleed for 75 Physical damage over 5 sec.
• Embrace of the Viper (Wailing Caverns): at 4 pieces, taking damage at or below 25% health restores 100 health and mana over 5 sec. At 5 pieces your melee attacks can inflict Dream Venom, stunning the target for 1 sec.

Level 60 dungeon sets

• The Postmaster: 8% run speed at 2 pieces, and at 4 pieces falling below 25% health grants Return to Sender, which reflects the next spell cast on you within 6 sec.
• Necropile Raiment: harmful spells can steal 28 life from the target at 3 pieces.
• Bloodmail Regalia: melee attacks can wound the target for 70 bleed damage over 10 sec at 3 pieces, plus 1.5% crit at 5 pieces.
• Dreadmist Raiment (Warlock) and Deathmist Raiment: both now carry a 2% chance to make an attacker flee in terror for 2 sec when you are struck, alongside resistances, spell power and mana regeneration.

New raid sets with class tricks

The new raid tier sets have no item stats in the client yet (the pieces are still withheld), but their bonuses are already there. Druids get four different sets, one per role:

• Grovekeeper Rage (Bear tank): Rebirth becomes castable in Bear Form and Dire Bear Form with a 2 sec shorter cast time at 3 pieces, and Berserk’s cooldown drops by 15 sec at 5 pieces.
• Grovekeeper Ferocity (Cat): Hibernate can be cast in Cat Form at 3 pieces, and Tiger’s Fury cooldown is 3 sec shorter at 5.
• Grovekeeper Raiment (Restoration): 10 sec off Barkskin and 3 sec off Swiftmend.
• Grovekeeper Eclipse (Balance): a longer Insect Swarm and bonus damage against Demons.

Warlocks get Demonheart Raiment, with a faster Banish, up to 21 extra spell damage against Demons at 4 pieces and 20% more mana from Life Tap at 5. Creature-type bonuses like this show up on several sets, which fits a Hyjal raid full of demons. See our raids overview for what is known about the launch raids.

What it means for players

Nothing here is final. It is beta data about seven weeks before the November 4 launch, and numbers like “once every 0 min” in some tooltips show the text is still being filled in. Still, the direction is clear: farming a dungeon set is worth it again, even at low level, and tank Druids may finally get a battle resurrection without leaving Bear Form.
