Theorycrafted before the WoW Forever beta (September 17, 2026). The leveling plan follows the proven Classic leveling builds, the talents use the pre-release WoW Forever trees on this site, and ability levels quoted from Classic may differ in Forever. Expect updates once the beta is testable.
Overview
Levels 10–40 · Holy Paladin, solo questing and grinding.
Pure Holy is the slowest way to level a Paladin alone, which is why the Classic Holy leveling guides mix healing talents with whatever makes solo play bearable. The WoW Forever Holy tree helps a lot here: Divine Strength and Improved Seals raise your melee and seal damage, Purifying Power shortens the Exorcism cooldown, and Holy Shock sits two rows earlier than in Classic, so you can reach it at level 30. This build is for Paladins who want to heal dungeons from the start without being helpless while questing between runs. After Holy Shock, the last ten points go into Retribution for cheaper seals and more crits. At 40 you decide whether to go deeper into Holy or respec for pure damage.
Why this build
- Heal any dungeon from the teens on: Reverence keeps some mana regeneration going while you cast, and Divine Favor guarantees a critical heal when a tank drops.
- Not helpless solo. Divine Strength, Improved Seals and Improved Holy Strike add real melee and seal damage before Holy Shock.
- Holy Shock at 30: an instant hit or heal. Weave it between swings to finish mobs or top yourself up.
- Quick Exorcism. Purifying Power cuts its cooldown by 34%, a big boost against undead and demons.
Weak spots
- Slower solo kills than Retribution. No Seal of Command and no Vengeance means long fights on elites.
- Holy Shock costs mana. Use it to finish a mob or to heal, not as a rotation filler.
- Healers need groups. The build is best when you run dungeons regularly; if you mostly quest alone, the Retribution guide is faster.
Talent order by level
One point per level from level 10 to 40. The talent tree above shows the finished level 40 build; use the level slider to see it at any level.
- Levels 10–14 · Divine Strength 5/5 — Up to +10% Strength: more attack power for questing and more block value.
- Levels 15–17 · Improved Seals 3/3 — Up to 15% more damage from your Seals and Judgements, so Seal of Righteousness carries your solo damage.
- Levels 18–19 · Improved Holy Strike 2/2 — Up to 2 sec shorter Holy Strike cooldown: more strikes per fight.
- Levels 20–21 · Purifying Power 2/2 — Cheaper Cleanse and Purify, and 34% shorter Exorcism and Holy Wrath cooldowns.
- Levels 22–24 · Reverence 3/3 — Up to 30% of your mana regeneration continues while casting, so healing runs need fewer drink breaks.
- Level 25 · Divine Favor 1/1 — Your next Flash of Light, Holy Light or Holy Shock is a guaranteed critical effect.
- Levels 26–29 · Divine Intellect 4/5 — Up to 10% more Intellect: a bigger mana pool for healing and Holy Shock.
- Level 30 · Holy Shock 1/1 — Instant Holy damage on an enemy or healing on an ally. Your finisher solo and your instant heal in dungeons.
- Levels 31–35 · Benediction (Retribution) 5/5 — Up to 15% cheaper Judgement and seals from Retribution, which you use on every solo pull.
- Levels 36–37 · Improved Judgement (Retribution) 2/2 — 2 sec shorter Judgement cooldown.
- Levels 38–40 · Conviction (Retribution) 3/5 — Up to +3% melee crit here, so Holy Strike and your swings crit more often.
Key levels
- Level 10 · Divine Strength starts; Lay on Hands from the trainer.
- Level 12 · Redemption class quest: essential for a healer.
- Level 20 · Flash of Light and Exorcism from the trainer; Purifying Power shortens Exorcism.
- Level 22 · Reverence: 30% of your mana regeneration continues while casting.
- Level 25 · Divine Favor: a guaranteed critical Flash of Light, Holy Light or Holy Shock.
- Level 30 · Holy Shock, and Divine Intervention from the trainer.
- Level 40 · Plate armor, the Warhorse mount, and Conviction finished for more crits.
How to pull and kill
- Solo: Blessing of Might, Seal of Righteousness, Judgement to open, then reapply the seal and melee. Holy Strike on cooldown.
- Save mana for the end of the fight: Holy Shock or Exorcism (undead and demons only) to finish, rather than spending mana early.
- Heal between swings, not after the fight: Flash of Light when a mob has you at 50% costs less time than a rest.
- Divine Favor into Holy Shock is your emergency heal while soloing, and your tank-saver in dungeons.
- In dungeons, Blessing of Wisdom on the casters, Devotion Aura on the group, and Flash of Light as your main heal. Save Holy Light for big hits you see coming.
Leveling tips
- Carry two sets of gear: plate or mail with Strength for questing, and Intellect pieces for healing runs. Divine Intellect doubles the value of the Intellect set.
- Healing dungeons to 40: The Deadmines (18–24), Wailing Caverns (19–25), Shadowfang Keep (23–29), Blackfathom Deeps (25–31), Razorfen Kraul (30–36) and the Scarlet Monastery wings (31–45).
- Blessings last an hour in WoW Forever, so buff the whole group at the start of a run and focus on healing.
- Quest in undead areas: Duskwood and the Scarlet Monastery surroundings let Exorcism and Holy Shock carry your damage.
- Herbalism and Alchemy pair well with a healer: mana potions for bosses and gold from herbs.
- Eat and drink at the same time after solo fights so one rest covers both bars.
After level 40
At 40, choose a direction. If you heal dungeons most of the time, respec into full Holy: Illumination, Holy Power and Light’s Vigil (needs 30 Holy points) make you a strong group healer. If you quest alone more, respec into the Retribution Paladin leveling guide for Seal of Command, Vengeance and Twist of Light.
