WoW Forever Engineering Leveling Guide: 1 to 300

Engineering levels on its own parts: blasting powder, bolts, tubes and casings that later recipes eat. That makes the path long but cheap, as long as you keep what you craft. Forever adds a Reagent Bot for camps, a run of new SAF-T and EZ-Thro gadgets, and the same Gnomish or Goblin choice at 200.

Checked against the final beta datamine, build 1.60.1.70532, on . Overview and perks:Engineering page; every recipe: Engineering recipes.

WoW Forever is not out yet. Anything below, including the confirmed lines, can change at launch on November 4.

The short version

Our Engineering path takes about 394 crafts in 25 steps, 22 of them on trainer recipes. It opens with Rough Blasting Powder, and the biggest materials are 259 Mithril Bar, 243 Copper Bar, 140 Solid Stone.

  • Reported At 200 skill and level 30 you can specialize in Gnomish or Goblin Engineering. The quest is expected to work as in Classic. wow-professions.com
  • Reported Engineering kept its Classic skill ranges in Forever, so the old route still lines up past 225, untested. wow-professions.com
  • Reported Mining is the partner: almost every step is bars or stone. wow-professions.com

Do not vendor the parts. Bolts, tubes, powders and Gold Power Cores made early are counted in the later steps' materials, and the shopping list below already subtracts nothing for them, so keep every one.

What Forever changes for Engineering

  • Datamined Forever adds a family of safer and throwable explosives, the SAF-T and EZ-Thro bombs, with their own parts such as SAF-T Tabs and EZ-Thro Wrap. Daybreak Forever datamine
  • Datamined Camping 101: Engineering sends you to a trainer for the Reagent Bot. The Dun Morogh version names Bronk Guzzlegear in Kharanos. Daybreak Forever datamine
  • Reported The beta stopped characters at level 30, so nobody could train Artisan or test anything past 225 skill. Everything above 225 is untested in Forever. wow-professions.com
  • Datamined A Engineering Certification costs 1,000 Merchant's Favor. Using it unlocks the title "the Engineer" for every character on your account, but a character needs 300 Engineering to show it. Daybreak Forever datamine

Making gold with Engineering

There are no Forever prices yet. These notes describe the Classic economy and are marked as such until launch data exists.

  • Classic fallback In Classic, Goblin engineers could make Goblin Sapper Charges, a top PvP and raid explosive that only they could craft. Warcraft Wiki · Warcraft Wiki
  • Classic fallback Classic Thorium crafts kept ore in demand at the top, so engineers who mine saved the most. Warcraft Wiki

How this path is built

  • Every recipe, reagent and skill colour comes from the Engineering data in the beta client, so the path follows Forever's thresholds, not Classic's.
  • A program tries every recipe at every skill point and keeps the chain that uses the fewest raw materials. Crafted parts are broken down into what they are made of; finished goods and scarce drops count extra.
  • Trainer recipes win over recipe items, and recipe items that are new in Forever count extra because nobody has confirmed where they come from.
  • The client does not say when a trainer recipe can be learned, so we count such a recipe from the skill where it turns yellow. You can often learn it a little earlier.
  • Camp features, cooldown crafts such as transmutes, faction-only recipes and recipes with rare reagents are left out.

Still unknown

  • The trainer level requirements for Engineering ranks. We assume the Classic ones until a Forever source lists them.
  • Which of the new gadgets need a specialization.
  • Where the new SAF-T and EZ-Thro schematics come from.

WoW Forever engineering FAQ

When can I choose Gnomish or Goblin Engineering in WoW Forever?

At 200 skill and level 30, the same as Classic. Guide writers expect the specialization quests to work unchanged.

What does the Reagent Bot do?

It is the first Engineering camp feature. Anyone at your camp can buy reagents from it. The Repair Bot upgrade also repairs gear.

Is Engineering worth it without Mining?

It is possible, but expensive. Bars and stone are almost the whole shopping list, so most engineers take Mining.

How many crafts does Engineering 1-300 take in WoW Forever?

About 394 by our estimate from the beta skill colours, in 25 steps. 3 of the steps need a recipe item instead of a trainer recipe. Luck on the yellow steps moves the number a little either way.
