Questie for WoW Forever

Questie draws your quests on the map and minimap: who gives them, where the objectives are and who to hand them in to. It is the addon most players install first, because the original Classic UI shows none of that.

Questie-Classic.toc in the official repository; v11.38.0 released 2026-09-15. Addons are free: Blizzard's UI Add-On Development Policy requires it. If a site asks you to pay, or hands you an .exe instead of a folder, close the page.

What Questie does

  • Puts an icon on the map and minimap for every quest giver you can use at your level, coloured by whether you can pick the quest up now.
  • Shows objective locations: the mobs to kill, the items to loot and the objects to click, with the exact spots highlighted.
  • Tracks the quest in a window that updates as you go, with an arrow pointing at the next objective.
  • Marks quests you have already completed on other characters, so you can see what is new.
  • Adds level and difficulty colours to quest icons, which is how you spot quests that are too high for you before you ride across the zone.

How to install it

  1. Download the addon from one of the official pages above.
  2. Close the game, including the Battle.net launcher. Addons are read at startup.
  3. Unzip the download. Inside you get the folder Questie.
  4. Move it into your WoW Forever install under Interface/AddOns. Do not nest a folder inside a folder of the same name — that is the most common reason an addon does not show up.
  5. Start the game. On the character select screen, open AddOns and make sure it is ticked.

If it still does not appear, tick "Load out of date AddOns" in that list: a Classic build can be marked for an older interface version than the Forever client reports.

Set it up before you level

  • Open the options with /questie and set the minimum and maximum quest level to match how far you are willing to travel.
  • Turn on 'Show completed quests' if you like tidying zones, or off if you want a cleaner map.
  • Keep the tracker on the side of the screen your damage meter is not on: both default to the right.
  • If your framerate drops in a busy city, lower the number of icons shown at once in the map options.

Questie in WoW Forever

Status: Forever adds more than 1,000 new quests. Questie's quest database is built from existing Classic data, so expect the new quests to be missing until its team adds them.

  • Forever adds quests that no Classic Era addon has data for. Until the authors update their database, new Forever quests either show no icons or show the Classic version of a quest that changed.
  • Quest data lives inside the addon, not on Blizzard's servers, so the fix has to come from an addon update — nothing you change in the settings will add the missing quests.
  • Our own addon ships the Forever dungeon quest data we extract from the beta client, so the two work side by side rather than replacing each other.

Hitting crashes or a frozen client in the beta instead? That is a graphics setting, not an addon: see the beta crash fixes.

Questie FAQ

Does Questie work in WoW Forever?

Questie has a current Classic Era build, and the Forever client supports addons, but the author has not announced Forever support. Expect Classic quests to work and Forever's new quests to be missing until the database is updated.

Is Questie the same as a quest helper?

Yes. 'Quest helper' is the generic name; Questie is the quest helper nearly everyone uses in Classic. The old QuestHelper addon from vanilla is not maintained.

Does Questie automate quests for me?

No. It shows you where to go. It does not pick up, turn in or complete anything, which is also why it is unaffected by the in-combat addon limits Blizzard has described for Forever.

Why are some quests missing icons?

Either the quest is outside your level filter in the Questie options, or it is new content the addon's database does not cover yet. Check the level range first.
