Overview

Level 60 · Fury Warrior · DPS in dungeons and raids.

Dual-wield Fury was the top melee damage spec of Classic raiding, and the WoW Forever tree keeps its core: Cruelty, Unbridled Wrath, Dual Wield Specialization, Flurry, Death Wish and Bloodthirst. What changes is the middle of the tree. Precision now sits in Fury for hit, Raging Blows makes Whirlwind strike with your off-hand too, Boundless Rage raises your Rage cap, and Enrage now lasts for a set number of swings. The Arms side takes the familiar raid pieces: Improved Heroic Strike, Anger Management and Deep Wounds. Bloodthirst in Forever scales with Attack Power and adds movement speed, so read its tooltip before assuming it plays exactly like Classic.

Your job in the group

Your job is sustained single-target melee damage without stealing threat, and cleave on trash. You also often keep Sunder Armor stacks going when the tank is busy, and you are the raid’s backup for interrupts with Pummel. On boss fights with an execute phase you are expected to spend nearly all your Rage on Execute at the end.

Why play it

  • Constant Rage flow. Two weapons, Unbridled Wrath and Flurry swing often, so you rarely sit on empty Rage once the fight is going.
  • Talent hit. Precision gives you hit that Arms has to find on gear.
  • Raging Blows makes Whirlwind a real two-weapon attack on trash and on bosses.
  • Death Wish is a strong burst cooldown that also makes you immune to fear.

Weak points

  • Threat. You can out-damage a fresh tank; watch your threat meter in the first seconds of every pull.
  • Two weapons to gear. A weak off-hand drags down Dual Wield Specialization and Raging Blows.
  • Death Wish raises damage taken, so using it during heavy raid damage can put you on the floor.

Level 60 talent build

Arms 15 / Fury 36 / Protection 0, all 51 points. The talent tree above shows the finished build.

Fury (36)

  • Booming Voice 2/5 — Battle Shout lasts longer and reaches further, less upkeep in a spread raid.
  • Cruelty 5/5 — melee crit for Flurry, Enrage-style procs and Deep Wounds.
  • Unbridled Wrath 5/5 — extra Rage from every weapon hit, which dual-wield triggers constantly.
  • Boundless Rage 3/3 — raises the Rage cap so you do not waste Rage during burst windows and can pool for Execute.
  • Dual Wield Specialization 5/5 — more off-hand damage, which also improves Raging Blows’ off-hand Whirlwind hit.
  • Raging Blows 1/1 — Whirlwind strikes with your off-hand too, and Cleave gets cheaper for trash.
  • Enrage 5/5 — a damage bonus after being crit; on bosses that melee the raid it procs more than you would expect.
  • Precision 3/3 — hit from talents, the stat Fury needs most before crit.
  • Death Wish 1/1 — your main burst cooldown and a fear immunity.
  • Flurry 5/5 — attack speed after crits, the engine of dual-wield Rage and damage.
  • Bloodthirst 1/1 — your main strike; use it on cooldown.

Arms (15)

  • Improved Heroic Strike 3/3 — cheaper Heroic Strike, the dump you queue whenever Rage is high.
  • Improved Rend 3/3 — only here as the path to Deep Wounds; you do not use Rend on bosses as Fury.
  • Improved Tactical Mastery 5/5 — required for Anger Management and helpful when you swap stances for Overpower or Thunder Clap.
  • Anger Management 1/1 — steady Rage while you wait for the tank’s threat lead.
  • Deep Wounds 3/3 — a bleed from every crit, which with Cruelty is a lot of bleeds.

Flexible points: Booming Voice and Boundless Rage are there to reach the next tier; Improved Cleave is a trash-heavy alternative. Improved Execute is the first swap if Execute costs feel tight.

Rotation and priority

  1. Wait for tank threat, then Battle Shout and Berserker Stance.
  2. Bloodthirst on cooldown. It is your top priority.
  3. Whirlwind when Bloodthirst is on cooldown, on bosses as well as trash; Raging Blows adds your off-hand to it.
  4. Heroic Strike with excess Rage. Queue it when you are near the cap so Rage never goes to waste; Cleave replaces it on two or more targets.
  5. Refresh Battle Shout before it runs out and Sunder Armor if the raid is short on stacks.
  6. Execute phase: stop Heroic Strike, keep Bloodthirst only if Rage is overflowing, and Execute with everything else.

Cooldowns

  • Death Wish at the start of a burn phase or when the boss drops low; not during heavy raid damage.
  • Recklessness once per long fight in the execute phase; the Tier 1 5-piece bonus shortens it.
  • Bloodrage and Berserker Rage for Rage and fear immunity.
  • The beta datamine lists a Warrior trainer spell, Eureka!, that makes your next three damaging abilities cheaper and stronger on a 2 min cooldown. How it is learned is not known yet; if it is baseline, it pairs naturally with Death Wish.

Resources

Fury Rage is feast or famine. At the start of a pull you have none and threat limits you anyway, so Anger Management and Bloodrage carry the opener. Mid-fight, Flurry and Unbridled Wrath give more Rage than Bloodthirst and Whirlwind can spend, and Heroic Strike absorbs the rest. Boundless Rage lets you hold a larger pool before a burn or Execute phase instead of dumping it early.

Stat priority

Start with weapons: a slow main hand and a fast or equally slow off-hand of good damage. Then hit up to the Classic boss hit cap, counting the hit Precision already gives you. After hit, critical strike and Strength trade places depending on your gear, with Agility behind them. Weapon skill for your weapon type was valuable in Classic; check whether Forever’s racials and items still offer it.

Gear and set bonuses

Battlegear of Glory is the Arms and Fury Tier 1 set in the beta datamine (the spell names call it the Arms/Fury Tier 1 bonuses). Its bonuses: 2 pieces give 1% attack and casting speed, 3 pieces take 30 sec off Intimidating Shout, 4 pieces give +36 Attack Power against Humanoids, and 5 pieces take 30 sec off Recklessness. The 2-piece haste and 5-piece Recklessness bonuses are the ones that matter for raids. For pre-raid gear, the reworked Battlegear of Valor and its upgrade Battlegear of Heroism both pay out from 2 to 6 pieces, with Strength, a heal-and-Rage proc and resistances, so pieces from dungeons are useful before raid tier arrives.

Legacy planner

Only utility Legacy nodes are listed for now. Gourmand makes food buffs last longer, which saves re-eating between trash packs. All Legacy data is unconfirmed beta data, so check it in the Legacy planner before spending points.

Consumables and professions

  • Agility and crit: Elixir of the Mongoose.
  • Strength: Juju Power, Winterfall Firewater and Strength food.
  • Rage: Mighty Rage Potion for burn phases.
  • Survival: a healing potion saves a Death Wish that went wrong.
  • Weapons: sharpening stones on both weapons.
  • Professions: Engineering for grenades and Goblin Sapper Charges on trash, or Blacksmithing for weapon crafts.
