No patch notes, but WoW Forever's talents are changing: Restless Blades is out and a Black Lotus vendor is in

The WoW Forever beta has now been running for two days without a single set of patch notes. Testers are finding the changes themselves, and some of them are big. Here is what has changed since BlizzCon, what is confirmed by data, and what is only reported by players so far.

Combat Rogues lose Restless Blades

The clearest change is confirmed by the beta datamine. Restless Blades was a headline Combat Rogue talent at BlizzCon and in the playable demo: your damaging finishers reduced the cooldowns of Adrenaline Rush, Blade Flurry, Evasion, Sprint and Vanish by 2 seconds per combo point. In build 1.60.1.69913, it is no longer a talent.

In its slot is Flawless Execution: “Reduces the Energy cost of your Eviscerate ability by 10.” That is a flat efficiency talent with none of the cooldown play that made Restless Blades interesting. Combat players have not taken it well. “Why would I ever pick up Flawless Execution if my main focus is to keep slice and dice up?” asked one, and a second thread calls the swap “a HUGE nerf in that talent slot.” Another reply sums up the frustration: “Zero change logs for this is WILD.”

What it means for your build: Combat’s mid-tree loses its best cooldown tool, so Adrenaline Rush and Blade Flurry now run on their base cooldowns. Our level 20 Combat Rogue guide does not reach that tier yet, so its build is unaffected. Our talent calculator still shows the BlizzCon tree and will be updated.

A new Affliction talent: Wrack

The datamine also lists a Warlock talent that was not in the BlizzCon trees. Wrack tears the target apart from within, dealing 36 Shadow damage every second for 6 seconds, and makes your other Shadow damage-over-time effects hit the target 10% harder while it lasts. For a spec built around DoTs that can crit, that is a strong short burst window. The datamine does not show where Wrack sits in the Affliction tree yet.

Players report: Protection Warrior’s Vitality reworked

This one comes from players, not data. In “Prot Warrior Already Nerfed”, testers report that the Protection talent giving 10% Strength and Stamina (Vitality in the BlizzCon tree) now gives a flat 10% damage increase instead. One reply puts it simply: better for threat, clearly worse for survivability.

For a class already called the weakest in the beta, it did not land well. Not everyone agrees it is a nerf, though. One player suggests Blizzard is heading off “huge percentage gains” from the new campfire buffs, and several point out that Warriors were always weak at low level and strong at 60.

A vendor that sells Black Lotus

The strangest find is economic. Players report a vendor selling Black Lotus, Arcane Crystals and other key trade goods, items that in Classic come only from contested gathering and drive the whole endgame economy.

It may just be a beta convenience for testing high-level crafting. But players have noticed that it fits Blizzard’s promise to “very, very actively” monitor Forever’s economy. One tester suggests it could be a test of a cap on prices, so a Black Lotus or Devilsaur “mafia” never takes hold. Blizzard has not said which it is.

Why the missing patch notes matter

Betas change constantly, and nobody expects polished patch notes on day two. But these are not bug fixes. Swapping a showcased talent for a different one changes how a spec plays, and players who planned around the BlizzCon trees are finding out by reading tooltips. The known issues list is the only official change log so far, and it does not mention any of this.
