Cozy Sleeping Bag Route in WoW Forever
Reported by testersChecked on 1.60.1.70205 beta
The Cozy Sleeping Bag is the first WoW Forever collectible worth a detour: rest in it and you gain 1% experience for every minute you stay in it, up to 3%, and it stacks with the 5% from a cooked meal. Getting it means a quest chain through five zones on both continents, ending with a jumping puzzle in Hillsbrad. The chain hands out more than the bag, and testers have found enough rough edges on it that this page now tracks those too.
The route
| # | Zone | Coordinates |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Westfall | 37, 50 |
| 2 | The Barrens | 46, 74 |
| 3 | Stonetalon Mountains | 40.6, 52.4 |
| 4 | Loch Modan | 49.4, 12.9Stonewrought Dam. Wet Bags is turned in on top of the dam, and Eagle's Fist follows. Do not jump straight off: there is one spot to drop onto and it is easy to overshoot. |
| 5 | Hillsbrad Foothills | 87.3, 49.6The jumping puzzle. Expect a few attempts rather than a simple walk-up. |
Is it worth the trip?
For a single character, 3% is barely noticeable. It pays off in two situations, and both matter more in WoW Forever than they did in Classic.
- A race to 60 at launch. Stacked with food, an 8% bonus running from level 1 is several hours saved.
- Alts. The bag is a one-off errand that keeps paying on every character you level afterwards, and Forever is built around alts.
The chain's other rewards
The bag at the end is the reason most people run this, but it is a quest chain and it pays out along the way. Two of those rewards are worth knowing about before you start, because both have been changed or questioned during the beta.
- A 12-slot bag. One tester wrote on 4 October that they ran the chain mainly for this and found it nerfed. We do not know its current size.
- Student Fodder, a food item from the chain. A level 23 tester was told they were too low level to use it and asked what the minimum is. Nobody has answered, and the item is not in the datamined files, so we cannot read its requirement.
Horde players have a harder run
The chain is the same for both factions, but the route is not. A Horde tester pointed out on 2 October that they are sent through two Alliance-guarded places to continue it: the tunnel leading into Loch Modan, and the dam area itself. Guards attack on the way through both.
The same tester noted that the Alliance version does not appear to have an equivalent stretch through Horde territory. If you are Horde, plan the Loch Modan leg as a run past guards rather than a walk, and expect to die at least once.
How it fits the rest of the game
Camping, rested experience and cooked food all reward the time you spend sitting still. The sleeping bag is another piece of that design, and the same item existed in Season of Discovery, which WoW Forever borrows from in several places.
Two neighbours of it are in the files and confirmed: the Camp Tent, a Camping recipe that raises your rested experience to 5% of a level for anyone sitting near it, and Well Rested, a five-rank Legacy perk that accumulates rested experience 20% faster and raises the rested cap by 20%. Those stack with the bag in the sense that they all reward resting, but they are separate systems.
Before you go
Practical notes from the route and from the beta threads.
- The trail crosses both continents, so plan it around a boat or zeppelin trip rather than as a quick side quest.
- The last stop is a jumping puzzle. Repair first, and do not attempt it at low health with a long walk back.
- Do not place the bag right before a layer change. If you get phased into another layer the bag stays behind and the cooldown keeps running, so you lose the use of it for the full cooldown.
- The buff is lost on death, so use it before a quiet stretch rather than before a dungeon pull.
What we have not confirmed
- We have not run this route ourselves. The coordinates are one tester's route, not an official guide.
- There is no Blizzard post or patch note about where the item comes from.
- Beta content changed between builds. An item that needed a five-zone trail in the beta can still be moved or removed at launch.
- The chain can break: two testers reported on 25 September that after turning in Wet Bags on the dam, Eagle's Fist never appeared in their quest log. We do not know whether that is fixed.
- A placed bag is left behind when you are phased to another layer, and the cooldown does not reset. Reported 4 October, no reply from Blizzard.
- The 12-slot bag's current size and Student Fodder's level requirement are both unknown. Neither item is in the datamined files.
