'I read the list. No sympathy': the WoW Forever name filter was not ready for two-part names
Senior game producer Tom Ellis has explained why so many offensive names slipped into the WoW Forever beta: the naming filter was not ready for the two-part system, and Blizzard assumed players would behave for a few weeks. Instead the team ran every name through the filter manually. After the ban wave, developers re-read every removed name and checked the complaints posted on Reddit and X, finding that each complainant had left out a fourth character.

The next WoW Forever podcast is about class design, and Blizzard is taking topic requests
Blizzard has announced that the second episode of the WoW Forever podcast will focus heavily on class design, with special guests from the systems design team. The team also opened a forum thread asking players which topics they want developer insight on in future episodes. It lands days after the first real patch notes reworked Paladin Holy Strike, buffed Wrath and stopped shaman totems stacking.

WoW Forever build 70009: respecs drop to 1 silver, wands are nerfed and the Cooldown Manager arrives
Blizzard's September 24 development notes are the first full change log of the WoW Forever beta. Talent resets now cost 1 silver if you have not respecced recently, a temporary beta-only change. Wands no longer gain damage from spell power. The Cooldown Manager can be switched on for five classes. Gamepad users get class flyouts, and around twenty quests were fixed, mostly faster respawns in crowded starting zones.

WoW Forever class changes in build 70009: Wrath +50%, Holy Strike reworked, shaman totems stop stacking
The first WoW Forever patch notes touch every class. Wrath gains 50% base damage and heal-over-time spells can finally crit. Mangle is renamed Primal Bite. Paladin Holy Strike scales up at every rank and Improved Holy Strike is baseline. Shaman totems no longer stack with each other, even between shamans. The Gnome racial Eureka becomes a flat 10% resource discount, and Tauren herb cultivation now has level requirements.

Blizzard is forcing renames in the WoW Forever beta, and says Customer Service will not hear appeals
A WoW Forever developer confirmed that forced name changes are going out to characters that break the naming policy, and that beta access was removed for names far outside the Code of Conduct. The actions were taken by the development team and reviewed individually, and Customer Service will not handle appeals. An automatic naming enforcement system comes online shortly, and Blizzard asks testers not to probe it.

WoW Forever has a secret snake form, and druids unlock it in Wailing Caverns
Beta players found a hidden druid form in WoW Forever: wear the full five-piece Embrace of the Viper set, the 'of the Fang' gear from Wailing Caverns, and your shapeshift becomes a serpent. Nothing in the tooltips mentions it, which fits Blizzard's stated approach of hiding surprises from dataminers so players find them in the world. It is the clearest example yet of a set bonus that changes how a character looks rather than how it performs.

Real storms are coming to the WoW Forever beta, and Elwynn Forest is the first to get soaked
Blizzard has teased increased weather effects for WoW Forever beta zones with a short video of a downpour in Elwynn Forest, thick enough to hide the trees around Goldshire. Players had been asking for the heavy rain of the Wetlands and the blizzards of Dun Morogh, which the beta only hinted at. The forum thread passed 140 replies within hours, with requests for fog, wind, dust storms and footstep sounds, and one worry: whether the weather can be turned off.

WoW Forever's Legacy System explained: 65 challenges, 16 points per character, and no need for alts
Blizzard has detailed WoW Forever's account-wide Legacy System. There are 65 Legacy Challenges in six categories, each worth one Legacy Point, shared across all non-Hardcore characters. Every character can spend up to 16 points at launch across three trees: Professions, Adventure and Resourcefulness. A single character can earn up to 29 points, so alts are optional. It unlocks with your first point, usually at level 25, and points also feed a reward track.

'Convenience is the death of the journey': a WoW Forever world builder says who the game is for
Amid an argument about whether WoW Forever is for Classic or retail players, world builder Matthew Armstrong answered for himself: he is making it for the Classic gamer and the millions whose subscriptions lapsed because of changes they disliked. He says he spent a year relearning how art was made 20 years ago rather than using faster modern methods, out of duty to the original team. His three guiding sayings include 'convenience is the death of the journey'.

Blizzard: WoW Forever's instant Auto Shot is a bug, and the 0.5-second wind-up is coming back
Hunters and wand users in the WoW Forever beta have been shooting with almost no wind-up. Blizzard says that is a bug: the 0.5-second cast time before an auto-shot is not working, and a fix is planned for an upcoming beta build, hopefully next week. Hunters are relieved, caster players less so.

Consecration is flickering in the WoW Forever beta: ticks drop to 1-2 damage and tanks lose their threat
Consecration in WoW Forever only hits the first four enemies at full strength by design. Beta testers found something else on top of that: the damage drops to almost nothing when a mob walks in from the edge, even when it is the only mob in the circle. Paladin tanks say that costs them most of their area threat, and bug reports are in.
