WoW Forever rulesets explained: no realm list, one faction on PvP, and a way out of Hardcore
WoW Forever drops the realm list. At character creation you pick a ruleset instead: Normal, PvP, Roleplaying or, some time after launch, Hardcore. Each is one large shared world. You can only group, run dungeons and raid with players on the same ruleset, the PvP ruleset allows one faction per account, and a Hardcore character that dies can move to another ruleset. Collections and Legacy Points are shared across all of them, with one exception for Hardcore.

WoW Forever name reservation opens October 27: how the two-name system actually works
Every WoW Forever character has two names, and the full combination must be unique within your region, so a popular first name is no longer lost forever. Early name reservation runs October 27 to November 3, 2026 for eligible upgrade purchases, first come first served. You can hide your second name over your head (it still shows in chat), and the filter checks both names together, so splitting a banned word across them will not work.

Blizzard on WoW Forever gold buyers: 'we've been too lenient', and permanent bans are on the table
In a developer Q&A, WoW Forever senior game designer Josh Greenfield said Blizzard has been too soft on gold buyers in the past and will punish them very aggressively in Forever. He did not say 'permanent ban' outright, but warned players that losing an account for good is not worth it. With a level cap that never rises and professions meant to stay relevant, Blizzard says protecting the economy is a priority, and it has tuning tools to control supply and demand.

No shared tagging in WoW Forever: Blizzard says it 'must hold the line', even as players queue for rocks
WoW Forever will not get shared mob tagging. Senior game designer Josh Greenfield wrote on X that it is one of the things Blizzard must hold the line on, because a bit of friction is key to the game's social side, though he hinted at other fixes. Beta players are feeling that friction in crowded starting areas, where quest mobs and server-side objects like the rocks in Orgrimmar's Rocks to Rest quest spawn slower than players arrive.

WoW Forever beta hotfixes: Skyborne quest 'A Firm Response' unblocked, and EU lag fixes are in
Two blue posts close out the beta's first weekend. The event in A Firm Response on Zephras Isle, which stalled after High Priestess Lorthuna spawned and blocked Skyborne progress for days, now works after a second fix. Blizzard also says EU routing problems that caused rubber-banding and disconnects have been fixed where they were in its control, while some issues from ISPs or firewall software may remain.

'This is WoW 2': Forever beta players call it a sequel, and Blizzard wants retail to learn from it
Across Twitter, Reddit and the official forums, WoW Forever beta players keep calling it WoW 2. Blizzard has said it is not sure what a real sequel would offer that Forever does not already. Game director Ion Hazzikostas also told Windows Central that retail's weak open world is a real problem, and that The Last Titan should get a Heroic world tier with more danger and friction, because every version of WoW should have that.

WoW Forever beta habits: HD or classic models, and why testers are hoarding 40 quests before level 30
Two beta habits are spreading. WoW Forever lets you switch between Classic's original character models and retail's HD ones, and players are split on which looks better. Meanwhile testers near the level 20 cap are collecting completed quests without turning them in, using the log's new 40-quest limit, so they can cash in a pile of experience when Blizzard raises the beta cap to 30.

WoW Forever beta testers are losing access over character names, and Blizzard says the surname is no loophole
The new first and last name system has produced plenty of crude combinations, and on the beta the penalty is not a forced rename: players who break the naming policy can lose beta access entirely. A Blizzard support rep explained how it works and how to appeal.

WoW Forever respecs already cost 5 gold at level 20, and beta testers say it stops them testing
Resetting your talents in the WoW Forever beta costs 1 gold the first time and 5 gold the second, and players expect the Classic climb towards 50 gold after that. With brand-new talent trees to try and only 11 points to spend, testers say the price is stopping them from testing at all. Four threads with more than 6,000 views between them ask for cheaper or free respecs, at least during the beta.

Too retail, or not enough? The argument splitting the WoW Forever beta, and the gear numbers behind it
Four days into the WoW Forever beta, the biggest argument is not about one class or one bug but about what Forever is. A thread calling it "retail with a vanilla mask" has drawn nearly 600 likes; another says it feels too much like retail, while plenty of players answer that it is still mostly Classic. Underneath the debate are concrete complaints about gear: spell power on level 10 items, rare drops everywhere, and a worry that horizontal progression will creep upward anyway.

WoW Forever beta tips and tricks: 40 things to know before you log in
The first beta weekend taught players a lot the hard way. We collected the tips that hold up: why dungeons are now a one-time quest run, how layering can steal your escort quest, what to do with Waylaid Crates, why every character wants First Aid, the lighting setting that stops AMD crashes, and the bugs you should route around until the next build.
