WoW Forever's Secret Snake Druid Form

Reported by testersChecked on 1.60.1.69977 beta

Nothing in the tooltips mentions it. Collect all five pieces of Embrace of the Viper, the 'of the Fang' set from Wailing Caverns, and your druid shapeshift becomes a snake. It is the clearest example yet of a set bonus in WoW Forever that changes how you look rather than how hard you hit.

What you need

The set is the classic Wailing Caverns druid gear, themed around the serpent druids of the cavern. In Forever, wearing all five pieces makes the theme literal.

Wailing Caverns is a long dungeon and the pieces are specific drops, so expect several runs. On stats alone the set is a reasonable leveling option for a feral druid, so the form is a bonus rather than a detour.

Why it was not datamined

Blizzard has said it deliberately kept many new items out of the files dataminers read, so players would find them in the world, and that an item's stats stay hidden until it drops for someone on your ruleset.

A cosmetic set bonus is the ideal hiding place: it changes no numbers, so nobody reading a spreadsheet would spot it, and it only appears when one player collects all five pieces and shapeshifts.

What we have not confirmed

  • No Blizzard post or patch note mentions the form. Everything known comes from players who assembled the set.
  • Nothing from the beta carries over to launch on November 4, so a set collected there was for the beta only.
  • Whether the form survives to launch, or gets a tooltip line, is unknown.
