WoW Forever's Black Market Goblin in Riverglades

Reported by testersChecked on 1.60.1.70009 beta

Testers found a black market goblin called Mister Graphed in the new Riverglades zone. He matters less for what he sells than for what his prices do: a vendor selling rare materials at a fixed price puts a ceiling on what anyone can charge for them on the auction house.

Why a vendor like this exists

Blizzard has said the economy is a core part of WoW Forever and that it holds tuning levers over supply and demand. This vendor is one of those levers in plain sight: if a material can be bought for 20 gold, nobody can corner the market on it for much more.

The two unfamiliar materials are the other half of the story. Fel Crystal and Stranglevine do not exist in Classic, so something in the reworked profession recipes must need them.

A subscription paid in gold

Gift of Galloping is not a crafting material. It grants 10% mounted movement speed for 15 real days, for 150 gold. Classic never had a timed speed purchase.

As a gold sink it makes sense for a game whose level cap never rises: players keep earning, and the currency needs somewhere to go. At 150 gold it is a level 60 luxury rather than a levelling purchase.

What we have not confirmed

  • The vendor was found by testers; Blizzard has not published his inventory or the prices.
  • Beta prices are tuning values and routinely change between builds.
  • Nothing from the beta carries over to launch on November 4, so anything bought there is gone.
