Skinning takes leather, hides and scales from dead beasts. It needs no trips to resource nodes, which makes it the easiest profession to level while questing.

Key milestones

Leveling outline
- Skin every beast you kill while questing; it costs only a few seconds.
- Watch the cap at 75, 150 and 225 so you do not skin for nothing.
- For gold, pick zones with dense beast packs at your level instead of following quests.
Best pairing
Leatherworking. Skinning pairs with Leatherworking, or with Mining or Herbalism for a gold-focused character.
Who benefits from Skinning
- Hunters: A Hunter and pet kill beasts all day, so hides pile up without extra effort.
- Leatherworkers: Skinning supplies nearly every leather recipe.
